Angelina made Thursday 29th March my perfect working day.
I need to tell you what we were up to...
Angelina and I were doing the Health and Safety audit together. Angelina led on doing the checks, things like the water temperature, the automatic fire door etc. Afterwards we sat down at the computer to input our findings, we hadn’t done this together before, so I showed Angelina how it works. I did it slowly and checked she understood. She was very enthusiastic to be involved, so I sat back a little and she started to put in the information. I watched her and when she got stuck, I was there to help, but she was completing the audit.
When Angelina had finished putting the information in, she turned to me and said “I’ve done it NICKY"!
My instant reaction was "YES! Did everybody hear that?”. “Angelina just called me NICKY". What I really wanted to
do was jump up and down, scream, dance do something and let the world know what a breakthrough had just happened. I was so delighted and felt privileged that Angelina had actually used my name.
Angelina didn’t react to my excitement at first, but then she gave me a wonderful smile and I knew we had made a special connection.
The next step for Angelina is to be part of the Health and Safety Group, which meets monthly. She’s really up for this,
as she is a very practical and organised person. I’m looking forward to supporting Angelina in this group, as not only will it give us an opportunity to spend more time together and build on our relationship, but I’m sure that she will be able to further develop her skills and achieve so much in this new and exciting role.
