I then had the idea of possibly supporting a homeless shelter. I got some information and talked to the ladies about the project and asked if they would like to make meals for the shelter during the cold months. They thought this was the perfect job for them as they could be supported to prepare the pasta bakes for the homeless shelter and then I could help deliver them.
Gillian was really the most concerned about the people at the shelter. She would hold my hand and share with me that she was worried about them and was glad that she was able to help in some way.
Once we got up and running, every time after I had delivered the food, Gillian would ask me if everyone liked her pasta bake and I would tell her they all loved it and they asked for seconds. Gillian would give a huge smile - she was proud that she had made a difference in someone's life. I was pleased I’d supported her to feel so good about herself.
