I began working for MacIntyre straight after university, I was offered a job as a Community Learning Facilitator at Oxfordshire No Limits and I was so excited. For one thing it meant I could stop waitressing and put my psychology degree to use! I worked at No Limits for nearly two years before internally transferring to Wingrave as a graduate teacher. This last year has been an incredible challenge, an uphill struggle sometimes, but the most rewarding year so far! Those who know me well know I have two moments at MacIntyre, one at No Limits and one at Wingrave, which will ultimately inspire me for the rest of my life.
One of these involves an incredible young man who, with the support from a lot of different staff members from both school and residential was able to access using a swimming pool offsite this year. This was a huge challenge for the student and, whilst there have been downs as well as ups, has mostly been very successful. The interactions that staff have with the students swimming are wonderful to see, the students faces lighting up as they splash and play or trust a staff member enough for them to hold them as they learn to swim is incredible!
Over the last year I have met some extraordinary people. Staff who give everything, have amazing amounts of passion and excitement and do it all for the people who matter the most. I have also met and taught the most inspirational students. The interactions I have the privilege to see at Wingrave on a daily basis are nothing short of beautiful and amazing and I'm sure are present throughout all MacIntyre services. I plan on making the next year just as brilliant and I hope yours is too.
