The team have been given the tools to work effectively with Jeremy and are working in a facilitative way more and more often, resulting in some Great Interactions. As staff practice their skills and they see the success they are having when supporting Jeremy effectively, their confidence increases and so it progresses.
Amy is a new member of staff and is keen to encourage and support Jeremy to extend his communication skills. During the evening Jeremy watched as others in the house made their choices for their Christmas meal, with Amy. Amy then supported Jeremy to make a cup of tea, and they sat at the table to create a relaxed atmosphere for Jeremy.
The whole experience took about twenty minutes, but Jeremy was able to make his own choices and Amy saw how effective and positive the interaction was between herself and Jeremy.
It’s good to know that Jeremy will have the Christmas meal of his choice and that Amy’s facilitation skills made this possible.
