Introduction
Ivor is an 84 year old gentleman who, on the 2nd February 2015, relocated from independent living in his own home to Saughall Road, a 24 hour supported living home. This happened quite quickly due to the need for Ivor to have support coming out of hospital.
Early days
At first Ivor found it difficult to adjust to Saughall Road after his hospital stay, but staff took the time to listen to him about what he wanted from his life; what he wanted to achieve, days out and maintaining friendships.
Ivor’s wishes
Staff reflected on the best way to support Ivor to achieve his goals. Working together they listed Ivor’s favourite things, such as the police, dinosaurs, brass bands and animals, and looked at the best way of incorporating these things into Ivor’s everyday life.
Meeting Ivor’s wishes
Ivor decided he wanted a dinosaur themed bedroom and enjoyed being creative whilst shopping for items.
Ivor is very active with daily activities and he enjoys his interactions with staff. Staff are constantly reviewing the Great Interactions that happen with Ivor as more of Ivor’s personality unfolds: we want to make sure we get it right.
In the future Ivor would like to:
- See the Liverpool dinosaurs
- Go on holiday to London to see the changing of the guard, have tea with the queen and march with the brass bands
Since writing this blog Ivor has very sadly passed away, but we wanted to share this blog with you in memory of a wonderful man who is missed terribly.
