Keith helps to set up the tables and enjoys being the announcer for the raffle. Keith’s confidence has been built up over time through his staff and manger carefully listening to Keith and his ideas, and encouraging him to become more confident, but in his own time. He has on a few occasions even sourced a few prizes for the raffle.
As we all know Great Interactions is described as something that happens between staff and people we support, but the really special thing about the Valentine’s disco was seeing the quality of the interactions between all the people attending; whether they were from MacIntyre, Mencap or another provider.
A good example is the disco itself. The DJ gets everyone involved and everyone is on their feet having a good time. The interactions between people and staff on the dance floor are heart warming. Sometimes it is seeing people making new friends and dancing happily together. Sometimes it is seeing people give someone a bit of extra space when they need it. The photo below captures Elizabeth taking care of Said on the dance floor, each of them bouncing off the others laughter. If you could bottle laughter and happiness you would have had enough in the room that night to go to the moon and back.
People are still talking about the Valentine’s disco weeks later and looking forward to the next one! Bring on the Easter party and may it be as filled with little moments to create even more lovely memories.
